Lead Character Artist

We are looking for Lead Character Artists to work as part of our development team making AAA games in Unreal Engine by developing art pipelines and managing the team to deliver characters and character-related assets.
You must be able to work closely with individuals in the other departments to create, influence, define and manage the character pipeline for rewarding player experiences.


  • Content creation of characters across all areas of the game as defined together with the Art Director.
  • Troubleshoot character-related issues and participate in the planning for the project's characters. 
  • Work with and mentor character artists to provide clear direction and set expectations and character requirements.
  • Setting up, maintaining and documenting character production pipelines.
  • Close collaboration with the Art Director to work within the visual style of the game.
  • Balance quality and efficiency of work to gain the best possible results within the given time frame and technical constraints.
  • Ability to skillfully optimise characters to game-ready quality.
  • Be able to develop your team through excellent communication skills and mentoring.


  • In-depth knowledge of character modelling as it relates to animation requirements.
  • Excellent sculpting skills in Zbrush or Mudbox.
  • Texturing skills in Substance Painter or similar software.
  • Experience in both hard surface and organic modelling.
  • Expertise in modelling drapery as it relates to costume creation.
  • Thorough understanding of character art pipelines and AAA game integration.
  • Experienced understanding of PBR workflows, including hair and skin shaders.
  • A strong understanding of weighting and rigging for animation.
  • Knowledge of industry software tools & pipelines (Zbrush, Blender, 3dsMax, Maya, Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop).


  • Traditional art skills, including sculpting, sketching, illustration and painting.
  • Familiarity with hair and fur development and workflows.
  • Experience with hair and cloth simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of human and animal anatomy.
  • Understanding of costume design and construction.
  • Experience with Marvelous Designer.
  • Experience with MetaHuman.
